Ryan-Wyden Medicare Plan Introduced

December 16, 2011

New cost-cutting plan for Medicare

In a bipartisan effort, Senators Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) have introduced a new cost cutting plan for Medicare. Starting in 2022, seniors would have an option to choose between traditional Medicare or from a selection of private plans. They claim it would save money because seniors would have a choice in competition. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney referred to the plan as "Radical" and says details need to be forthcoming on cost control measures without pushing them to seniors. More on this story can be found in the December 16, 2011 NAHU Newswire.
