Berwick To Resign As CMS Head

Berwick's deputy to succeed him

CMS Director, Don Berwick will step down as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid on December 2nd. He was a "recess appointment" and it became quite clear that he would never be confirmed by the Senate. His statements praising the British government healthcare system politically polarized Washington. Deputy Marilyn Tavenner has been nominated to succeed him.

Also reported in the November 28, 2011 NAHU Newswire is story about a Quinnipiac University poll which found that "voters want the Supreme Court to overturn President Obama's healthcare law."
