Medicare Cuts Trigger Lawsuit from California Hospital Association

November 4, 2011

Attempting to block a ten percent cut

In a lawsuit filed in a federal district court in Los Angeles, the trade Group for California's hospitals is suing the state and federal government to block a ten percent cut in government reimbursements for healthcare providers that treat low income patients. They allege the cuts to the Medi-Cal program will threaten the ability of many hospitals to operate skilled nursing facilities.

Also reported in the November 3, 2011 NAHU Newswire is an article about Senate Republicans calling for CLASS ACT repeal. AARP has joined more than 50 disability rights groups, unions and others urging them to not repeal the CLASS Act. More on this debate is sure to follow.
