White House Opposes CLASS Act Repeal

October 20, 2011

HHS Secretary admits it is financially unsustainable

HHS Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius announced last week that the CLASS Act, the long-term care insurance program that was part of healthcare reform and was to be financed by premium paid by enrollees seemed unlikely to be financially sound in coming decades. More on this story can be found in the October 19, 2011 NAHU Newswire.

The October 20, 2010 NAHU Newswire reports that over 46,000 Massachusetts residents were fined for not having enough healthcare in 2009. Connector Authority spokesman, Richard Powers added "officials haven't sorted the data to identify why the 2010 and 2011 fines were handed out."
