Supreme Court Expected to Hear Two Health Related Cases

October 3, 2011

Medicaid rate hearing will be first

The Supreme Court will hear the case whether healthcare providers and individuals can sue the state from cutting their Medicaid rates. The federal law requires states to keep their reimbursement rates high enough so that providers can participate in the program.

The second case waiting for acceptance by the court, is the constitutionality of the healthcare reform law. If the court agrees to hear this case, it could render a decision in the middle of the 2012 presidential campaign.
