| News Heath Insurance Costing More September 28, 2011 Covering less, according to a Kaiser Foundation report The Kaiser Foundation recently released a report on health insurance coverage and costs. Health insurance for a family now costs more on average annually than a small car. The Kaiser survey finds that over the past ten years, health insurance premiums were up 113% while wages increased only 34%. It is estimated that healthcare reform is responsible for one to two percent of the average nine percent increase this year. Employers are citing that the cost of healthcare is a factor in their decision to not hire additional employees. Employers are being forced to turn to higher deductible plans. On a local front, the New Hampshire Attorney General has responded to the lawsuit filed by 10 hospitals that contest the reduction in Medicaid reimbursements citing in part that "the hospitals have not shown "irreparable injury: as a result of the Medicaid cuts." More on these stories can be read in the September 28, 2011, NAHU Newswire. |
