HHS Proposes Rule To Allow Patients Direct Access To Medical Data

Rule would allow patients to obtain test data from labs directly.

HHS Secretary cited some problems she had personally encountered when she attempted to obtain results, and being forced to redo tests. She is quotes as saying: "When patients have their lab results, they are more likely to ask the right questions, make better decisions and receive better care."
