| News Generic Drugs Delayed in Introduction to the Market September 2, 2011 FTC alleges illegal "sweetheart" deals The September 1, 2011 NAHU Newswire reports that the FTC is critical of drug makers that delay introduction of generic drugs by promising not to introduce their own generic version if a competitor delays their entry into the market. Another article highlights that Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield has not decided if they will offer coverage through the Iowa exchange. Wellmark is the dominant carrier in the state and could hamper the initiative. Effective September 1st, as a part of healthcare reform, insurers that increase premiums more that 10% for individual or small group policies must submit the plan for state or federal review to determine if the increase is reasonable. The law does not have the ability to deny the increase but any increase will be posted along with an explanation on the www.healthcare.gov website. More on this story can be found in the September 2, 2011, NAHU Newswire. |
