Drug Supply Shortages Continue to Grow

Uncertain when end in sight

As reported in the August 25, 2011 NAHU Newswire , drug shortages have continued to increase since 2010. A majority of these drugs are generic and given by injection to treat serious conditions such as breast and testicular cancer but other generic drugs are affected as well. This situation is frightening to pharmacy managers who deal with the uncertainty of the supply situation.

Also reported is the CBO predicts the delay of the Long-Term Care Insurance Program that was part of the healthcare reform bill until HHS can ensure its solvency.
