Supreme Court to Hear Medicaid Reimbursement Case

August 10, 2011

Scheduled for October 3rd

The Case of Douglas v. Independent Living Center of Southern California is scheduled to be heard by the U.S. Supreme court on October 3rd. The question is: Can patients and providers challenge state cutbacks in Medicaid reimbursement rates. Some say that if successful, there may be other suits against federal laws that were not thought to have had merit for challenge.

Also reported in the August 10, 2011 NAHU Newswire is a claim that the CBO may have underestimated the costs of healthcare reform by $50 billion a year because of an accounting maneuver. Meanwhile, CMS claims the net cost of health insurance will triple under the reform law.

On the local front, New Hampshire recently launched its New Health Information Organization website that coordinate pubic and private sector health technology IT initiatives.
