State ordered to repay $35 million in Disproportionate Hospital Funds

As reported in the July 20, 2011 NAHU Newswire , the state of New Hampshire has been ordered to repay $35 million in Medicaid payments. The Disproportionate Share Hospital Payments are made to states that serve disproportionate numbers of low-income patients. The July 21, 2011 NAHU Newswire lead article focuses on the deficit reduction proposal that aims to repeal the CLASS Act. The CLASS Act, passed along with healthcare reform, was the former Senator Ted Kennedy's most cherished programs and focused on improving access to long-term care. It is now under review for repeal.
