Economy and high out of pocket costs to blame

The July 18, 2011 NAHU Newswire reported that a survey conducted by Deloitte Center for Health Solutions found that 25% of respondents skipped doctor visits due to higher out of pocket costs and the uncertainty of the economy. That same study indicated that one in eight had significantly reduced their healthcare spending. Also reported is an article that Supreme Court Justices Kagen and Thomas are being targeted to recuse themselves from challenges to the healthcare reform challenges due to conflict of interest.

The July 19, 2011 NAHU Newswire is reporting that fixing a "glitch" in the healthcare law that allows early retirees to qualify for Medicaid because Social Security income did not have to be reported could save $13 Billion. Also reported on Senior Market News, as Medicare shifts costs onto recipients, many seniors will not be able to afford coverage.
