Governor Lynch Allow Bills to Pass Without Signature

HB 601and SB 148

Two bills associated with healthcare reform recently passed in New Hampshire without Governor Lynch's signature.

House Bill 601 directs the Insurance Commissioner to obtain approval from an oversight committee before implementing any federal changes as required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for the establishment of an "Exchange". It further directs the Commissioner to decline certain planning grants and to specify to DHHS that the refused grant funds are to be used to reduce the federal budget deficit.

Senate Bill 148 provides that residents of New Hampshire shall not be required to obtain health insurance or fined for failure to do so as required by PPACA. To read the Governor's Press release for SB148 click here.
