Medicare Prescription Drug Customers to Benefit from Healthcare Reform

Price cuts to be seen this year
Part of healthcare reform addressed what is known as the "doughnut hole" under the Medicare Prescription drug benefit. Last year, $250 checks were issued to Medicare recipients that reached the "doughnut hole" to help defray the cost of prescription drugs. This year, companies that make brand-name drugs are providing fifty percent discounts and plans that offer Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage will pay up to seven percent of the cost of generics.
