HHS Shutting Down Healthcare Waivers

Ending earlier than initially planned

HHS announced on Friday that they are ending the issuance of waivers that provided exemptions for many employers and labor unions from the new healthcare law. No new waivers will be considered after September 22nd but approvals or renewals received by the deadline will be good through 2013. Waivers will not be needed after 2013 as the primary coverage provisions of healthcare reform will take effect in 2014.
