Budget Agreement Does Not Defund Healthcare Reform

Separate vote in Senate expected on two measures

Late Friday night, a budget agreement was reached thus avoiding a government "shutdown." Two measures were excluded in the agreement and will be voted on in separate votes. One was the defunding of healthcare reform and it is doubtful the Senate will pass this measure. Another story reported in the April 11, 2011 NAHU Newswire is the repeal of the 1099 tax reporting requirement that was passed as part of healthcare reform. It was argued that the reporting requirements were too burdensome for small businesses to administer.
