Survey of Insurance Brokers Reveals Harsh Reality of Health Care Reform

Medical Loss Ration provision a driver

Of 2,400 insurance agents and brokers surveyed, 52 percent say some of their clients have dropped health coverage because of cost. About 70 percent have observed their clients decreasing the coverage they provide and 90 percent have increased premiums for their employees. National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) CEO, Janet Trautwein says the "primary culprit is the law's" 80-85 percent "medical loss ratio (MLR) requirement."
