Senator Paul Ryan Aiming for Large Budget Cuts

April 5, 2011

Medicare and Medicaid revisions included

House Budget Committee chairman, Rep. Paul Ryan has submitted a plan to reduce spending by $4 Trillion over the next 10 years. Some estimate it could be around $6 Trillion. Medicaid would be turned into block grants to states and Medicare would be transitioned for individuals now under age 55 to a specified contribution towards private health insurance premiums. Ryan plans to reduce spending below 2008 levels. It is doubtful this will pass in the Democrat held Senate. To read more on this news article, check out the April 5, 2011 NAHU Newswire.
