Senate Votes to Repeal 1099 Reporting Requirement

February 3, 2011

Passed in Senate with a vote of 81-17

The Senate voted to repeal a piece of the healthcare reform legislation requiring business owners to report annual purchases of goods or services of more than $600 to each vendor. The House must now approve their version of this legislation but have indicated they will move quickly to repeal this provision.

In a separate vote Wednesday, the Senate declined to repeal the healthcare law in a vote of 51-47. Senators Leiberman (I-CT) and Mark Warner (D-VA) were not present for the vote. This vote was along party lines and the outcome was not unexpected.
