New Rules for Insurance Premium Increases

December 22, 2010

HHS releases regulations

In an effort to protect consumers, Health and Human Services has released regulations regarding individual health insurance premium increases. Increases greater than ten percent will be subject to be reviewed by state or federal officials. If states have an effective review program in place, the federal government will not intervene although they can at any time review the rate increases at any time.
