Medicare Reimbursement Cuts Effective December First

November 9, 2010

Will be catastrophic for seniors

Unless Congress acts, Medicare payment cuts of twenty-three percent to physicians will take effect December first. The American Medical Association has called for a permanent fix for years but is now pushing for a 13-month extension.

Individuals that take advantage of flexible spending accounts that allow workers to pay for medical expenses with pre-tax dollars will see a significant change starting January 1, 2011. Over the counter drugs and medicines such as aspirin, cough medicine and such will no longer be reimbursable unless prescribed by a doctor.
