High Risk Pool Enrollment Disappointing

November 8, 2010

A little more than 8,000 have enrolled nationwide

The Obama administration "government economists" had projected that around 375,000 would enroll this year in the new Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan but that as of last week, a little more than 8,000 have enrolled. The reason? Premium. The premium for individuals in their 40's and 50's can range between $400-$600 a month. In response to the low enrollment, HHS announced it plans to reduce premiums by up to 20% and will be offering three choices next year in hopes that more will enroll in the program.
