| News Midterm Elections Could Impact Healthcare Reform November 1, 2010 Impact will depend on what party controls the House and Senate HHS is planning on asking five states to develop systems for the Exchange that are required by all states by 2014. In return HHS will issue grants to those states to assist with the costs associated with developing the systems necessary to provide the information to individuals as mandated in the health care reform legislation. The winners of the grants will be announced by February 15th. Arizona, Colorado and Oklahoma all have initiatives on their ballots to repudiate the new mandatory healthcare provision. Even though it may be only a political gesture others argue that as more states follow suit, it will encourage legislative action to defund or repeal the law. Other healthcare news of the day can be found in the November 1, 2010 NAHU Newswire. |
