| News Shortfall of Doctors Predicted October 4, 2010 Influx of millions of people into health system contributing to the cause The General Accounting Office (GAO) has appointed members to a first ever commission to advise Congress on the healthcare workforce needs of the nation. The American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) said "there will be a shortfall of 62,900 physicians across all specialties in 2015 as many healthcare reforms take effect. We look forward to working with the new commission on developing a national strategy to address these and other critical workforce shortages." Meanwhile the High Risk Pools that were established as part of President Obama's health care reform are lagging in enrollment. Government economists projected that 375,000 individuals would gain coverage this year. Some state officials say that the people who could benefit from the program may not be able to afford the premium.
