Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Dropping Medicare Advantage

September 30, 2010

Effective at the end of the year

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has announced that they have decided to drop the Medicare Advantage Program at the end of the year. The decision to drop the plan was impacted in part by the freeze in federal reimbursement rates and the new requirement forcing insurers that offer this type of coverage form provider networks for a negotiated amount of money. As an alternative, Harvard Pilgrim will provide employer customers with a choice of Medicare Enhance plan designs along with a choice of prescription drug options and corresponding premiums.
