Repeal of Tax Requirement Rejected by Senate

September 15, 2010

Businesses will have to be ready to comply with Form 1099 reporting provision in healthcare reform

Tuesday, the Senate defeated the controversial tax-reporting provision written into the healthcare reform legislation passed earlier this year. Business groups say the requirement will create a bookkeeping nightmare in an already struggling economy.

Meanwhile, a federal judge said he is likely to let 20 states move forward with at least one portion of their lawsuit against the healthcare legislation. Judge Roger Vinson will issue a complete ruling by October 14th and scheduled oral arguments to begin December 16.
