HHS Secretary Warns Insurers

Cease Blaming Premium Hikes on Health Reform

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has warned the insurance industry that rate hikes blamed on healthcare reform will not be tolerated. The HHS Secretary and insurance companies have been at odds during the past year and a half and the secretary is quoted as saying: "insurers that hike rates for consumers unjustifiably may be locked out from the state exchanges due to be set up by 2014". The exchanges will be the primary way in which individuals and small groups will purchase coverage.
