Insurance Commissioners Meet

August 18, 2010

Approve what carriers can count as medical costs

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners have approved a preliminary list of what insurers can count as medical costs. This is important as healthcare reform mandates that 85% of premium dollars for large business and 80% of premium dollars for small businesses actually be spent on healthcare. The industry has responded in saying that the insurance regulators have narrowed the category for what qualifies as medical costs and jeopardize their ability to enhance care and battle fraud.
