Hospital Bad Debt Tied to Insured Patients

May force them to collect copays up front

A survey by the Delaware Valley Healthcare Council of HAP reveals that the "fastest-growing part of what hospitals call "bad debt: ...is money owed by patients who have insurance." Hospitals have traditionally been reluctant to talk with patients about this up front but may be forced to do so.
