Most State's High Risk Pools Accepting Applications Thursday

June 28, 2010

Larger states may miss deadline

The newly enacted Health Care Reform Law required High Risk pools to be operational 90 days after enactment but most states are enacting the program to coincide with their fiscal year. Illinois may be one of the first states to start providing health insurance under the new pool. The program is due to cease on January 1, 2014 when insurers are prohibited from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions.
