CBO Predicts Federal High-Risk Pool Will Require More Money

June 22, 2010

Could cost three times more than what is currently budgeted now

According to the CBO, the currently budgeted $5 billion for the federal high-risk pool is insufficient to fund the program until 2014. It is estimated that if the pool were to allow the 600,000 to 700,000 eligible Americans to enroll, it could cost an extra $5 to $10 billion dollars.
