All But Three State Lose Medicaid Funds

April 22, 2010

Arizona, Masschusetts, and New Mexico

Healthcare reform laws will be shifting billions of dollars to states because of the changes in the way Medicaid prescription drug rebates are treated. Under the new law, instead of the rebates going to the states, the rebates will solely to Washington this year.

The Community Living Assistance Services and Supports Act also known as the CLASS Act recently passed as part of healthcare reform may be giving Americans a false sense of security according to the DesMoines Register. The CLASS program will pay on average $50 per day for long-term care. The article indicated that the average costs for homecare in Iowa is $25 per hour or $200 a day for a private nursing home.
