Judge Denies Injunctive Relief

April 13, 2010

States insurers had not exhausted their right to appeal administratively

Superior Court Judge, Stephen E. Neel of Suffolk Superior Court said he would not block the state from denying rate increases. BCBS of Massachusetts CEO William C. Van Faasen says it's time for health insurers, state officials and healthcare providers to slow rising healthcare costs.

Georgia's Insurance Commissioner has declined to offer a high-risk insurance pool. He has sent a letter to HHS Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius explaining that he has no confidence it won't become a burden on Georgia taxpayers.
