Massachusetts Rate Rejection Not Resolved

April 8, 2010

Two carriers resume making new policies at last years rates

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Tufts Health Plan have said they will resume making new policies using last years base rates. The courts have not made a decision regarding a request from health carriers for a temporary injunction suspending the cap set by the Duval administration.

In a Boston Globe editorial, they are quoted in saying: "the judge should let the rejections stand-and the state's action could finally compel all involved in the unsustainable inflation of health costs to slow it down."
