President Gives Reconciliation Nod

March 2, 2010

Democrats work to gather majority support

In a speech to be delivered by the President Wednesday, he will call for Congress to pass some sort of health reform. Moving forward with reconciliation would require the House to pass the Senate's final version of the healthcare bill. The bill may have to go through the Finance Committee, Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee or the Budget Committee before a vote. Senator Orin Hatch (R-UT) calls for reconciliation to be taken off the table and an open dialog for bipartisan legislation.
