| News House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi Urges Reconciliation February 16, 2010 Democrats say no need to abandon the idea Despite the most recent Rasmussen poll indicating that 61% of U.S. voters think the House and Senate should start over with healthcare reform, House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi urges the Senate to use reconciliation to pass the healthcare reform bill. The resignation of Billy Tauzin, lobbyist for the Pharmaceutical Industry trade group could complicate reform efforts. Many drugmakers believed that Tauzin gave up too much in the healthcare negotiations and overestimated that passage was inevitable. It is now uncertain if drugmakers would continue to support the overhaul. The Massachusetts Connector Authority is reviewing the tax penalty for those that are non compliant in purchasing health insurance due to affordability issues. Some argue that loosening the rules will result in fewer people being required to purchase coverage and thus undermine the state's health law.
