Healthcare Reform Taking Place in Some States

February 2, 2010

At least 11 states considering expansion of healthcare coverage

With healthcare reform still up in the air, states are starting to take the lead in managing their healthcare reform as they see necessary. California and Missouri are considering a single-payer system and Virginia and New Jersey considering an expansion of state aid. Meanwhile, Virginia's Democratic controlled senate passed a measure to make it illegal to require individuals to purchase health insurance. Two thirds of other states are considering doing the same. These laws only register as a protest against the currently proposed healthcare reform as Federal Law Trumps state law.
