President Signals New Tack for Healthcare Reform

January 21, 2010

No new approach decided on.

With the election of Senator elect Scott Brown (R-MA), the uncertainty of healthcare reform as currently presented in the House and Senate Bills remains. House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) said a smaller bill could emerge as a viable solution. Senator Landrieu says health reform should continue along with the language in the bill that would provide up to $365 million in Medicaid money for her state (Louisiana).

Representative John Boehner (R-OH) suggests in the aftermath, that Congress should be looking for ways to help small businesses create jobs and focus on the nation's fiscal budget.

Many agree that healthcare reform may not take place in 2010. Addition information on these stories and more can be found in the January 21, 2010 NAHU Newswire.
