Is the Nebraska Medicaid Deal "Unconstitutional"?

December 30, 2009

Ten conservative states prepare lawsuit to challenge Senate reform bill.

Conservative state Attorney General's are questioning the constitutionality of the Medicaid deal that exempted Nebraska from paying its share of the Medicaid expansion. Governors Schwarzenegger (R-CA) and Paterson (D-NY) want congressional leaders to rework the bill as the current version will pass along additional costs to the tune of $3 billion for California and $1 billion for New York.

The "Cadillac tax" of 40% on "Cadillac Health Plans" will hit many middle class policyholders. This could result in scaling back on coverage and access to health care.

The December 29, 2009 and December 30, 2009 NAHU Newswires provide up to date information on the latest healthcare reform in addition to other newsworthy items.
