Uncertain if Healthcare Bill Will Make it to Presidents Desk Before Year End

President Obama cautiously optimistic

Christmas is less than two weeks away and the Senate is working to revise the healthcare bill to move it forward for a vote. Democratic leaders were summoned to the Whitehouse to meet with the President to discuss the urgency of passing reform. The prescription drug reimportation amendment was defeated narrowly in a 51-49 vote. Both President Obama and Senator McCain favored the reimportation of drugs during the presidential campaign to help get drug costs under control. Even though the amendment failed, there are efforts to require more concessions from drug makers.
