Senate Votes to Start Healthcare Debate

November 23, 2009

Side by Side Comparison of Both Bills

In a strictly partisan vote, the Senate voted to advance the healthcare debate with a vote 60-39 Saturday evening. Senator George Voinovich (R-OH) was not present for the vote. While Senators Leiberman and Nelson state they are opposed to the bill as it is currently written, especially the provision adding a new government run insurance program, they voted to advance the debate.

The NAHU Washington Update provides a look at the weeks events and includes the following:

  • Comparison of the Comprehensive Health Reform Measures Under Consideration in the Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, November 20, 2009
