Senate Set to Vote on Saturday Night

November 20, 2009

First Vote to allow debate on Senate floor

The Senate will hold its first vote Saturday to move the bill to the Senate floor for debate. It is uncertain if Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has the 60 votes necessary and it may come down to three moderate Democrats who oppose areas of the bill.

The House of Representatives were busy Thursday, November 19th by adding more then $200 billion to the deficit without spending cuts or tax increases. This was to avoid the deep Medicare cuts that were scheduled to take place. Republicans have called the vote a political payoff to the AMA.
