Senate May See Health Bill this Week.

November 18, 2009

Special caucus meeting scheduled for 5:00 p.m. tonight

Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D-NV) has announced that the Senate version of healthcare reform may be introduced to the floor this week. While it is still uncertain if he has the sixty votes needed to avoid a filibuster, Reid is cautiously optimistic that he can get the votes needed to open the healthcare debate in the Senate. If he does not gather the sixty votes necessary for the floor debate, he may be forced to advance portions of the healthcare reform with a procedural move called reconciliation.
