Vote on Baucus plan expected in Senate Finance Committee today

The vote is scheduled to take place today on the Baucus plan for healthcare reform. Critics of the PricewaterhouseCoopers report (warning the Senate plan underestimates family costs by $4,000) released yesterday state that it was self-serving for insurance companies. If the Baucus plan is approved, then it will be merged with a plan approved by the Senate Health Committee over the summer and the final version may be ready for a vote later this month in the Senate. One concern is the acknowledgement by senior Democrats that the bill may not provide coverage for all Americans and could accelerate premium increases for everyone else.
