Senate Finance Committee Delays Vote

October 6, 2009

Waiting for Congressional Business Office review

The October 6, 2009 NAHU Newswire reports the vote is expected to take place later this week or possibly next week. Senator Baucus promised the senate that they would have a reasonable time to review the bills price tag. Of note, the Finance Committee's version does not include a public option. In the meantime, Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D-NV) says he has plans to merge the Finance Committee version with the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee version that was passed in July. Reid is said to be joining Senators Rockefeller and Schumer to push an amendment adding a public option. During, President Obama's speech to 150 doctors, he didn't mention if he would push for a public option.
