Senate Version of Health Care Reform Scheduled For Vote

October 5, 2009

Some Democrats refused to pledge support for the bill

October 5, 2009 NAHU Newswire reports the Senate Finance Committee is working on putting their version of a Health Care Reform Bill to a vote later this week. In the mean time, Democrats are pressuring moderates to support the public option. While moderate Senators are concerned that they need a bill that will withstand their constituent's scrutiny, Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) "indicated that state-specific or Senator-specific sweeteners might be added to secure centrist votes."
