House Democrats Consider Tax on High Cost Health Plans

September 28, 2009

May threaten coverage for middle class

Today’s NAHU Newswire reports the so-called “Cadillac plans” are under consideration for a tax to help pay for healthcare reform. Under Senator Baucus’ plan, family plans costing well over $13,375 (the national average) would be subject to a tax.

The September 28th edition of USA Today reports, the Congressional Budget Office contends this tax could generate around $215 billion over ten years. Other opinions concede thatit would make healthcare less affordable for families and the debate does not end there.
