CIGNA HealthCare Announces Changes

June 26, 2009

Withdraws Health Plans From HMO/POS Market

Effective January 1, 2010, CIGNA HealthCare is withdrawing all of their health plan offerings from the HMO/POS market in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.

Large groups (51+) with renewal dates prior to the January 1,2010 date will be able to renew with an HMO product but it will be the final contract year option with an HMO. For renewals on or after January 1, 2010 large groups will need to renew with a PPO plan.

Small Groups renewing on or after July 1, 2009 will have the opportunity to renew with one of two different plans that Cigna offers in the small group market. For renewals on or after January 1, 2010 small groups will need to renew with a PPO plan.

Alternative plans will be presented by NEEBCO to CIGNA members upon renewal.

NEEBCo can present plan options prior to your renewal. Please contact your NEEBCo representative for plan change options or with any questions or concerns you may have.
